Job Description

We are looking for a senior Java developer to join our rapidly growing team.

Nurocor is building a suite of tools and services to aid the bio pharma industry in the creation, adoption and management of clinical data standards with the ultimate goal of accelerating the pharmaceutical drug research and approval process.

Our technology landscape

  • Oracle, XML, PostgreSQL, SQL/JSON
  • Application servers: Tomcat, JBoss
  • Java 8 and later, OSGi, JUnit
  • HTTP, REST API endpoint design, JAX-RS frameworks such as Jersey and Wink
  • Development and build tools: Eclipse, Git, Sonar, Jenkins, Docker
  • Web clients: ExtJS
  • J2EE Web applications: Struts, JSPs, JavaScript
  • Eclipse Frameworks: EMF
  • Processing of XML in Java applications
  • Atlassian product suite, Integrated JIRA / Git workflow

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the VP of Technology, you will part of the team responsible for supporting Nurocor Metadata Repository that will be the backbone for a new Clinical Trial Automation Platform. You will collaborate closely with members of the product and engineering teams, in addition to marketing and executive leadership throughout the design process.

The ideal new team member will have many (or all) of the following:

  1. We are a remote company, so the ability to self-manage and work independent along with excellent verbal and written communication skills is extremely important
  2. Past experience with graph databases, in particular RDF related technologies
  3. Extensive knowledge of API endpoint design and service-oriented architecture
  4. Strong Java programming skills using Java 8 and higher
  5. Strong skills for framework development
  6. Good understanding of Java concurrency
  7. Experience writing automated tests (both unit and integration tests)
  8. Experience with integrated JIRA / Git workflow development models
  9. Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills
  10. Highly independent, motivated and able to support multiple initiatives simultaneously
  11. Strong desire for exploring, evaluating and understanding new technologies and their real-world applications
  12. Obsessive attention to detail and “get it done” attitude
  13. Willingness to travel at least twice a year for in-person team meetings

Extra points for any of the following:

  1. Familiar with metadata models and ISO 11179
  2. Familiar with development and build tools: Eclipse, Git, Sonar, Jenkins, Docker
  3. Familiar with API testing tools like Postman
  4. Comfortable interacting with external customers, translating their requests in to requirements and features
  5. Experience with continuous delivery and agile practices (scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.)
