We are looking for a senior JavaScript engineer who is focused on backend development and system integrations, to join our rapidly growing team.

Nurocor is building a suite of tools and services to aid the bio pharma industry in the creation, adoption and management of clinical data standards with the ultimate goal of accelerating the pharmaceutical drug research and approval process.

Our technology landscape

  • Data stores: ArangoDB, ElaticSearch and PostgreSQL
  • APIs: mix of GraphQL and REST, written in Java and NodeJS
  • Web clients: Vue, using NuxtJS
  • Testing: Jest, Cypress
  • Other: Docker, Jenkins, Kubernetes and the Atlassian product suite

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Technology, you will part of the team responsible for envisioning and executing on how people interact with and experience our products. You will own the technical design and implementation of particular features as well as collaborate with members of the product, QA and engineering teams.

The ideal new team member will have many of the following:

  1. We are a remote company, so the ability to self-manage and work independent along with excellent verbal and written communication skills is extremely important
  1. Extensive knowledge of API design: graphql, service-oriented architecture, micro-services; and the pros and cons of each
  2. Strong JavaScript programming skills, with real-world experience using ES6+ and newer JavaScript features
  3. Deep understanding of data structures, concurrency and parallelism
  4. Hands-on experience with NodeJS and web framework such as Koa, Express, Hapi, etc.
  5. Experience writing automated unit tests
  6. Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills
  7. Highly independent, motivated and able to support multiple initiatives simultaneously
  8. Strong desire for exploring, evaluating and understanding new technologies and their real-world applications
  1. Obsessive attention to detail and “get it done” attitude
  1. Willingness to travel at least twice a year for in-person team meetings

 

Extra points for any of the following:

  1. Familiar with GraphQL, ArangoDB, PostgreSQL, Docker or Kubernetes
  2. Past experience Java
  3. Experience with continuous delivery and agile practices (scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.)
